Prestige Buffalo
Bred in Australia for Australian conditions. It is one of the newest varieties of Buffalo on the market with a top priority of having the ultimate colour for lovers of dark green lawn.
Prestige® has high performance, fast runner growth resulting in solid wear tolerance and a rapid recovery rate, making it an ideal choice for active families.
Prestige® is also low maintenance with less thatch and able to out-compete weeds. For sun, shade and wear tolerance, Prestige® Buffalo turf is a standout lawn.
With its deep root system, Prestige® is an efficient water user and drought tolerant.
Seedless Kikuyu
Seedless Kikuyu is a wonderfully hardy lawn that can withstand the vigour of active children and pets. Great for young families, it’s a soft-blade easy-care lawn that handles high wear-and-tear.
The parent stock was collected here in North East Victoria and then bred for superior turf quality, creating a grass perfectly adapted to our climate.
Seedless Kikuyu is extremely popular with many of our local councils; especially for areas such as parks, round-a-bouts, football ovals, schools, kindergartens and day care centres.
Our Seedless Kikuyu has been selectively bred by our farm to produce a sterile plant that is less invasive than common kikuyu varieties. It’s an attractive lawn with a great drought tolerance and low maintenance requirements. The lack of fertile seed heads not only improves the visual appeal of this versatile grass, but also prevents blow over of seeds into garden beds or a neighbours’ yard.
For those who want a hardy, durable grass with a clean look; Seedless Kikuyu is the perfect grass.
Santa Ana Couch
Santa Ana Couch is one of our most attractive lawns. Super soft and fine, it’s suitable for sunny, high traffic areas and perfect for recreational/sports areas. This is a beautifully dense grass with a high wear tolerance; but does however require more attention than the average lawn to keep up its appearance. Needing to be kept short and well-manicured year-round, Santa Ana Couch offers a luxurious look in return for the care it receives.
Santa Ana Couch is very drought tolerant once established and handles children and dogs easily with its ability to self-repair. This grass variety thrives well in most regions and is the popular choice for lawn tennis courts, golf courses, lawn bowling greens, ovals and schools.
For those wanting a truly outstanding manicured lawn appearance; Santa Ana Couch is the perfect grass.
IronCutter Elite Hybrid Bermuda Grass
IronCutter Elite Hybrid Bermuda Grass is a new variety to the Australian market. With its soft to touch, fine vertical leaf and very high wear tolerance it is ideal for residential backyards, around swimming pools and sporting areas alike. With its low thatch, low seed head and high drought tolerance it will be a firm favourite for those wanting a show stopping yard.
Born and bred in the United States IronCutter is one of the top performing Bermuda Grass cultivars and has continued to perform exceptionally well in domestic testing under Australian conditions. IronCutter is more aesthetic, less thatching and lower maintenance grass than many of the current Bermuda Grasses on the Australian market.
For those who want a hardy, drought tolerant, fine leaf grass. Perfect for anything from sporting grounds to residential backyards this fine leaf Bermuda Grass with its deep green colour will be the envy of your neighbours.
What type of turf is best for full sun or shaded areas?
Different turf varieties perform better in certain conditions. For full sun, warm-season grasses like buffalo, kikuyu or couch are ideal as they’re drought-tolerant and thrive in heat. In shaded areas, buffalo turf—particularly soft-leaf varieties—is a top pick because it tolerates lower light levels better than others. Avoid couch in shade, as it generally needs more direct sunlight. Always consider how much foot traffic your lawn will get, as this can also influence the best variety for durability and appearance.
How often should I water new turf?
Newly laid turf requires frequent watering to help the roots establish. For the first two weeks, water daily, ideally in the early morning and late afternoon. During hot or windy weather, you may need to water more often to prevent the turf from drying out. After two weeks, reduce watering to every second day, then gradually shift to a regular maintenance schedule based on the turf variety and season. Once established, most turf types need deep watering 1–2 times per week.
When is the best time of year to lay turf?
Spring and early autumn are generally the best times to lay turf, as the weather is mild and allows roots to establish without extreme heat or cold. Turf laid in spring benefits from a full growing season ahead, while autumn installations avoid the stress of summer heat. Turf can be laid in winter or summer with the right care, but it may take longer to establish and need more attention. Always monitor watering and be mindful of temperature extremes when planning your project.
